Marvel’s Avengers: How Long Does It Take To Beat?

The main Marvel’s Avengers story content will fill a good chunk of time even before you get into the post-campaign Avengers Initiative.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now for everyone on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia. Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are planning to make the live game last well into the future with additional characters and missions, but how long can you expect the base story content to last? How much time do you need to hit the endgame?

How Long To Beat Marvel’s Avengers?

Based on the experiences of GameSpot staff, you can expect the story campaign to last around 10-14 hours. That time includes completing all of the story-crucial missions, marked with the Avengers “A” logo, as well as some side-missions. It doesn’t cover everything it has to offer.

Of course, that’s all contained strictly within the Campaign menu. That campaign is a self-contained story that unlocks the full team and awards you with some starting gear, but to really make the most of your heroes you’ll want to play the post-campaign content in the Avengers Initiative menu. That’s where Crystal Dynamics will be adding more heroes and limited-time events, including the Taking Aim event that will introduce Kate Bishop as the first DLC character. Several other DLC characters are coming, including Hawkeye. Spider-Man will be exclusive to PlayStation players in early 2021.

The Avengers War Table stream that announced Kate Bishop was revised out of respect for Black Panther’s lead, the late Chadwick Boseman. There had been speculation that the stream would introduce a Wakanda raid, Black Panther as a DLC character, or both.

“Marvel’s Avengers is a fun but flawed game with a lot of good ideas,” Phil Hornshaw wrote in GameSpot’s Avengers early review impressions, three days in. “It still feels as though the story campaign and the live-game missions are pretty divorced from one another, and I miss the moments when it was just me using my skills to take down a tough boss, rather than just watching as Taskmaster or Abomination get absolutely mobbed by me and three other superheroes.”
