Nintendo’s official website has leaked Kirby Fighters 2, likely releasing soon for the Nintendo Switch family of consoles. The game has been discovered through the website’s search function, which allows to find out new games tailored to players’ needs.
“Choose from a cast of Kirby’s most iconic copy abilities—including the brand-new Wrestler ability—and duke it out to be the last Kirby standing,” says the description of the $19,99 title.
“Familiar friends and foes like Bandana Waddle Dee and King Dedede also make an appearance as playable characters in the Kirby Fighters 2 game, available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system.”
Kirby Fighters originally released for Nintendo 3DS in 2014 as part of a mini-game for Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and then got its standalone Deluxe edition available through the Nintendo eShop.
Similarly to the original game, the sequel is likely a fighting game with the iconic Kirby characters battling each other, boosting their ability to collect items and avoid dangers.
It’s not clear when Nintendo plans to announce and release the title, and this process might likely have been slowed down by COVID-19.
The Japanese label had to revisit its plans for 2020 releases, delaying announcements and content for months before becoming public.
It has happened with Paper Mario: The Origami King and Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which were released mere weeks after their reveals, and the same will go with Pikmin 3 Deluxe. So, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Kirby Fighters 2 announced and released in several weeks from now.
