The correct moveset will make or break your Pokémon build, and it matters quite a bit in Pokémon Go. Not every Pokémon will battle the same, so you want to make sure that you use the best moves that a Pokémon can learn to become the best asset, especially in PvP. For Pyroar, there’s a male and female version. While they have the same stats, their movesets vary, so you need the consider the differences between the two,

Pyroar males and females are Fire and Normal-type Pokémon. They’re weak to Fighting, Ground, Rock, and Water-type moves, but they’re resistant to Ghost, Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Steel-type attacks. They have a maximum CP of 2,767, an attack of 221, a defense of 149, and a stamina of 200.

These are all of the moves Pyroar males and females can learn.

Fast moves

  • Male: Ember (Fire-type) – 6 damage and 3 energy per turn (3 damage per turn)
  • Male and Female: Fire Fang (Fire-type) – 8 damage and 2.5 energy per turn (4 damage per turn)
  • Male and Female: Take Down (Normal-type) – 5 damage and 2.6 energy per turn (1.6 damage per turn)

Charge moves

  • Male and Female: Dark Pulse (Dark-type) – 80 damage and 50 energy
  • Male and Female: Flame Charge (Fire-type) – 65 damage and 50 energy (100% chance to increase user’s damage by one rank)
  • Male and Female: Overheat (Fire-type) – 130 damage and 55 energy (100% chance to lower user’s attack by two ranks)
  • Male and Female: Solar Beam (Grass-type) – 150 damage and 80 energy

The only big difference between the two Pyroars is that the male can use ember as the fast move. Other than that, the two are the same. Does ember give the male Pyroar an advantage? It doesn’t. While ember provides a small amount of additional energy compared to fire fang, ember won’t make up that small change in damage. You’re better off using fire fang for both combinations, and if anything, because the male Pyroar has an additional move in its pool, it’ll be more difficult to acquire fire fang.

When it comes down to charge moves, both males and females have the same choices, so you don’t have to think too much about these options. Of the variety, you don’t want to use solar beam. It costs too much energy to do anything useful. Of your options, you primarily want to focus on acquiring overheat and flame charge. These do not provide any amount of coverage for Pyroar, but you’ll be able to do some decent damage with them overall. Overheat does lower its overall attack, but you can offset it by increasing Pyroar’s attack with flame charge.

Overall, the choice for the male Pyroar to have ember doesn’t do too much of anything. You’re better off using fire fang for its fast attack and then overheat and flame charge for its charge moves.
