Sea of Thieves will be kicking off 2021 with the launch of its seasons content. The first season will be happening in January 2021, and it will last for three months.
The seasons in Sea of Thieves will be starting off with a new piece of content for players to try out, and there will be monthly planned events occurring within those seasons. For those who participated in the Fate of the Damned event in October where there was a new challenge every week, that’s essentially the format you can look forward to within these new events.
Development team Rare plans to weave in their usual quality of life updates, Emporium content and Twitch drops as they already have been. But they are dropping off development support for Sea of Thieves’ arena, so players can continue to enjoy that aspect of the game as much as they want, but nothing new will be added to it in the future.
There will be a seasonal progression system added in 2021. The developers called Pirate Renown levels and a series of Pirate Trials that players can engage with to further their renown levels. We don’t have an official name for the seasonal track yet, but it’s exciting for players who have been looking for more regular content for Sea of Thieves.
There will be a premium tier of the seasonal content called Plunder Pass. It contains unique rewards and exclusive content from the Emperiorum for players that want to pay for it.
The first season of Sea of Thieves starts on January 2021, and it launches with a new Merchant Alliance Voyage where players will need to find missing merchants hidden all over the game at a specific shipwreck.
