BioWare announced on N7 Day in a blog post that Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which will be a remaster of the original trilogy, will be releasing in Spring 2021. The game will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will be playable on next-gen consoles. The next-gen version will have “targeted enhancements” as well.

The original Mass Effect was released back in 2007, while the third installment of the trilogy came out in 2012.

Speaking about the content of the new edition, BioWare mentions that “Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include single-player base content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, plus promo weapons, armors, and packs — all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD.”

After the vitriolic response received by the last installment in the Mass Effect franchise, Mass Effect Andromeda, the release of the trilogy might help BioWare incite the interest of fans in the franchise once again. The original trilogy was critically acclaimed by both fans and critics alike, and this seems like the perfect chance for BioWare to redeem itself before it launches the next chapter in the Mass Effect franchise.

Regarding the next Mass Effect game, Bioware mentioned that a “veteran team” is in “early stages” of the project.
